Limb Tips

The limb tips are going onto the Bobcat.  This is exciting because soon I can get a string on this bow and begin tillering.  This will tell me how many pounds of draw weight this bow has at 28" which is my draw length.  I pre-shape my limb tips, taper the bottom edge and then attach them to the bow with Smooth-on E40 epoxy.  Heat lamps help the epoxy to cure more quickly.  Tomorrow the clamps will come off and I can begin shaping the tips and adding string grooves.

If you remember from my last post, this bow is a 62" Bobcat recurve.  It's a new design that I developed and this is the first bow from this form. It has a Walnut riser, Maple limbs, and green Bo-tuff fiberglass.  The limb tips will be Maple, Walnut, and white phenolic.  I'll also be adding a Maple and Walnut overlay to the belly of the riser.  Stay tuned, this bow will be flinging arrows before you know it!
