Boy how time flies. It seems like summer just started and here we are getting ready to go back to school. As a teacher I often get asked in early to mid August if I am ready to go back to school and typically I am. At least mentally. I always have lots of work to do to prepare so I'm not always as prepared as I need to be. A great thing about going back to school is that fall is near and hunting season is just weeks away! I must admit that I haven't put as much into this blog or kept up on my social media posts like I want to. Part of it is that I have been very busy but part of it is out of frustration with social media! I just returned from a hiking and camping trip in Colorado with my two boys who are ages 9 and 11. We had a blast and saw our first moose, several deer, chipmunks, squirrels, ducks, geese, and elk. It was very peaceful and my boys proved that they can have fun while being away from the television, video games, and iPods, mission accomplished! I am currently busing working on a couple of bows and shooting as much as I can in preparation for the upcoming season. My plans for this fall include mostly hunting whitetails with my Bobcat recurve but if the chance to chase mule deer presents itself I won't hesitate! I hope to hunt more from the ground and I might even hunt a little with my Mathews Helim or my Ruger American .270. I just like to hunt and eat deer, I am not a traditional snob, I enjoy all types of ethical deer hunting. I really want to kill a buck by spot and stalk and using my Heads Up Decoy. It's a new challenge for me and looks like a lot of fun. I still have a few treestands to set up, a ground blind to build, and cameras to put out which I hope to accomplish this week before I head back to school.
