BACKYARD ARCHERY CHALLENGE

WHAT IS THE BACKYARD ARCHERY CHALLENGE?

Here's how it works.  Each Monday throughout July and August a new challenge will be uploaded onto the website.  Each challenge will have a paper target for you to download and print on 8.5" x 11" paper.  Be sure to watch the video for each challenge so that you completely understand the rules.  You will have until the following Sunday to shoot the challenge and submit a photo of your results.  Weekly winners will be posted on the website along with a running total for the 8 week challenge.  Points will be awarded to the top 10 shooters (10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd, etc).  Anyone finishing outside the top 10 will receive 1 point for that challenge.  Any ties will share the points for those placings.  The shooter with the highest point total at the end of August will receive a $50 store credit to Coyote Creek Archery that can be used in store or online.

Point total will be based off of 7 of the 8 week scores.  If you miss a week, don't worry you are still eligible to win!  If you shoot all 8 weeks, you will be given a mulligan and your worst round will be dropped from scoring.

One person who shoots a minimum of 7 weeks will be selected at random for a prize.  This is an added incentive to keep you shooting each week even if you haven't scored the best.

The goal is to have fun, and help you to prepare for the fall hunting season.  Scoring will be on your honor so please be honest, and submit the first target that you shoot for that week.  No do overs! You will be competing with archers from all across the country.

The idea is for you to be able to shoot from home or at your local range.   Tell your friends and get them involved in the fun!  The longest shot will be from 20 yards, but that doesn't mean the challenges will all be easy!  If you can't stretch out to 20 yards, scaled targets will be provided for closer ranges.  We don't want anyone to be left out because they can't shoot the distance.  Please use a rangefinder or tape measure to verify shooting distance.  All shots will be outdoors, indoor shooting will not be scored.

Coyote Creek Archery will determine if any rules have been broken or appear to have been broken and any scores not aligning with the rules will be thrown out.

EQUIPMENT RULES

  • You must shoot a "hunting setup".  Compound bows only, (but if there is enough interest I may create a separate competition for traditional shooters).

  • No speed limit

  • No arrows larger than .246" ID

  • Maximum front stabilizer length of 15"

  • Only one back/side stabilizer no longer than 12"

  • No magnified scope lenses, hunting pins only!  Sliding sights are accepted.

  • Peep sight verifier lenses are accepted

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

Watch the instruction video that is posted each Monday.  Download and print the target for the week.  Submit a photo of your work by the deadline to coyotecreekarchery@gmail.com. Please write your name, email address, and score on the target. Targets cannot be modified in any way!  Print them to full scale, attach them to a target, and shoot the specified distance.  No scaling to make the target larger, no coloring in spots, etc.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

This challenge is absolutely free, except for a few pieces of paper and some printer ink.

Coyote Creek Archery employees, staff shooters, and their families are not eligible for the prize.  We don't want things to appear rigged!  They are encouraged to shoot and participate in the challenge, but they will not receive weekly points.
